Lineup for International Symposium of Masters of Wine announced

A total of 36 Masters of Wine professionals will present their wines at a walkaround tasting in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) has announced the roster of 36 Master of Wine Winemakers heading to Wiesbaden, Germany, for its 10th International Symposium to present their estates’ wines at a tasting session. The walkaround event, ‘Taste the Mastery’, will be the first tasting to kick off the symposium which runs from June 29-July 2, 2023.

“A selection of MW winemakers from around the world will be present to demonstrate their skills and expertise with their wines on the first day of the event,” said Alison Flemming, MW, who will oversee all tastings at the event. Visitors can expect to taste wines from nations spanning France, Spain, Australia, the United States, Austria, South Africa, Israel, Germany, England and Canada.

Of the 415 Wine Masters, only 76 consider themselves winemakers. The tasting is an opportunity for MWs to share their craft with wine experts and showcase their knowledge.

The IMW’s international symposium is regarded as a significant event in the global wine calendar, launching in Oxford in 1982 and last hosted in Logroño, Spain, in 2018. The 10th International Symposium will run over four days, focusing on trends currently defining the industry and how the industry will evolve in the future. The event will be attended by 500 wine professionals and enthusiasts worldwide.

The members of the IMW – the Masters of Wine (MWs) – are said to be at the forefront of expertise in the world of wine. The IMW’s mission is to promote excellence, interaction and learning across all sectors of the global wine community.
