The red wine Masseto IGT, vintage 2004 from the winery Ornellaia has been rated in 2010 with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Deep dark ruby colour, opaque core, purple reflections, brightening on the rim. Very seductive dark berry fruit on the nose, lightly floral, a hint of liquorice and blackberries, subtle ethereal notes, fine woody savouriness, pleasant tobacco touch, hint of dried fruit. Juicy and highly elegant on the palate, benefiting from very fine acidity, fine blackberry notes, mineral accents, not quite as massive, but hearty, perfectly integrated, velvety tannins, chocolatey finish, pronounced fruit in the finale, fine notes of candied orange zest, already very elegant and balanced; a seamless style, already a perfect food wine. More about the tastingRich, extremely dense ruby; very intense and inviting nose, shows notes of cherry confit, blackberry, cassis, subtle leather notes in the background, lots of liquorice; extremely powerful on the palate, literally explodes with lush, ripe fruit, then starts very straightforward and opens up layer by layer with fine-grained tannin, lots of sweet fruit texture, long finish with fine savouriness.
