The port Quinta do Noval, vintage 2017 from the winery Quinta do Noval has been rated in 2022 by Anne Krebiehl with 98 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the region Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal.
The ruby colour in the glass is dense and opaque. The nose is immense and rich with hints of ripest plum, dark peony, polished mahogany and still quite a bit of spirity lift. The palate is glossy, dense, youthful, bold. The tannins are in a rambunctious teenage phase and there is something wonderfully untamed, almost boisterous in the nature of this wine. The crushed plum and blackberry notes lead each other a merry dance. We know they will calm down, the spirits will integrate, the tannins will smooth out, but I hope that some of that energy and spirit will persist. Lovely and most youthful.
