Denmark’s wineries are looking forward to one of their best harvests, thanks to some highly opportune weather this year. The EU recognized Denmark as a wine producing nation in 2000, as producers began planting varieties like Solaris and Rondo tailored to the harsh Scandinavian climate.
Today, the country boasts around 175 hectares of vineyards and 125 licensed producers, although just a handful of major players like Dyrehøj Vingaard, Skærsøgaard, and Lille Gadegård dominate production. Over the years, production has shifted from mainly red to white and sparkling wines.
