Armandos opens in the former Leopold

Opening

In Grosse Pfarrgasse in Vienna's 2nd district, a new restaurant with Turkish-Latin American fusion cuisine has opened. The focus is on small plates designed for sharing.

Where the Leopold welcomed guests for decades, a new chapter has now begun: Armandos. Just a few steps away from Leopoldskirche, an address long embedded in the neighborhood is being redefined.

For nearly 30 years, the Leopold was a constant in the district – a place that evolved over time while retaining its character. Classic tavern cuisine, new concepts, and changing uses came and went by. Yet one idea remained throughout: hospitality and a place for the community.

Behind the new concept is head chef Enes Irik, most recently at Steinhart. Armandos is all about the fusion of two great cuisines, where Turkish meets Latin America. The menu ranges from octopus with aji amarillo to patatas bravas with an oriental twist, alongside croquetas de jamón "Pastirma". There are also dumplings, prawns and pickled snacks. If you don't want to decide, take "Lo siento! I want it all!" and sample a cross-section of the menu.

What happens on the plate continues at the bar: Mezcal meets Rakı, accompanied by a selection of wines and spirits. A highlight – especially now that summer is on its way – is the spacious guest garden, which adds a relaxed touch to the overall experience.
