How to toast National Vodka Day

Celebrate the enduring popularity of this versatile spirit on National Vodka Day on 4 October.

While vodka's origins are said to date back more than a thousand years in Russia and Poland,  its popularity did not truly take off elsewhere until after the Second World War. It is now the most popular spirit in the United States by a wide margin and one of the most beloved worldwide.

The neutral flavour of this fermented grain spirit has fueled its popularity as an ingredient in classic cocktails and mixed drinks like the Screwdriver, Bloody Mary and Vodka Martini. In fact it's difficult to imagine any self-respecting bar not stocking multiple premium brands. For those who prefer their vodka neat, there are plenty of options infused with herbs or fruit on the market and you can even make your own at home.

So however you choose to imbibe it, raise a cocktail or shot glass to National Vodka Day and try one of our favourite recipes below to celebrate in style!
