This summer, one of Asia’s most celebrated restaurants is heading to Sweden. From 24 June to 4 July 2026, Mumbai’s acclaimed fine dining destination Masque will take over Matsalen at Stockholm Stadshotell for an exclusive two-week residency led by head chef Varun Totlani.

Founded in 2016 by Aditi and Aditya Dugar, Masque has become one of the most influential names in contemporary Indian gastronomy. The restaurant has been named India’s Best Restaurant five years in a row and currently ranks No. 15 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026, while also holding a place on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

Known for its progressive interpretation of Indian cuisine, Masque will present a specially created tasting menu in Stockholm that combines the restaurant’s bold, spice-driven flavours with seasonal Nordic ingredients and Scandinavian minimalism.

“What excites me most is the contrast between the warm, intense Indian flavours and the restraint of Nordic cuisine,” says chef Varun Totlani. “I believe that combination can create unexpected and memorable dining experiences.”

The collaboration marks the first major international guest chef residency at Stockholm Stadshotell and signals the beginning of a broader culinary guest series at Matsalen.

During the residency, Masque will serve a six-course lunch menu from Friday to Saturday and a ten-course dinner menu from Wednesday to Saturday.
