Salcombe Distilling celebrates `Sober October` with non-alcoholic spirits

New additions have been unveiled to the collection of alcohol-free spirits released for `Sober October`.

Challenges like ‘Sober October’ and ‘Dry January’ try to encourage people to think about their alcohol intake, and with Sober October approaching, we ask: where does this idea come from? It began in 2014 as a campaign to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK, and over the years it has become easier to reach for different non-alcoholic drinks as more and more products hit the shelves.

An example of this development is “New London Light”, NLL, a collection of non-alcoholic spirits and aperitifs from the distillers at Salcombe Distilling Co. The first release of this collection in 2020 was “First Light”, a non-alcoholic spirit inspired by gin-making principles. There are two more releases that use new flavour combinations and an innovative production process, with the company stating that the collection sets the “global standard in taste for the fast-growing alcohol-free spirits category”. It is available in “First Light”, “Aegean Sky” and “Midnight Sun”, varieties and can be enjoyed straight up, with tonic, or as part of a cocktail. They are available at their online store (RRP £27.50), with “Midnight Sun” now also available to buy in selected Waitrose & Partners stores (RRP £27.50). Every bottle purchased in the UK helps protect and regenerate Seagrass, with 1% of sales donated to the Marine Conservation Society.

Serving the alcohol-free community as well as the growing market of drinkers wanting to reduce their alcohol intake, NLL provides options that will make it easy to create new habits. With all-natural ingredients and no artificial flavours or added sugar, consumers can rest assured they are drinking something pure, and they can also be sure they are doing some good.
