The 30-hectare Weingut Graf Hardegg vineyard is part of the renowned Hardegg estate in the northern Weinviertel region on the Pulkau river. For the owner, Maximilian Hardegg, the creation of a high-quality ecosystem in a renaturalized cultural landscape is the focus of his endeavours. This holistic approach under the motto "gelebte Artenvielfalt (active biodiversity) is also noticeable on the estate's own vineyard. Thanks to compost from the farm's own recycling system, the barren sandy-rock soils with a high lime content are full of life and thus strengthen the vines. The vineyards are home to countless garden birds, insects and other beneficial insects - even wild bees. Wild herbs and legumes grow. The wine cellars and vineyards are located in the immediate vicinity of Seefeld Castle, the residence of the Hardegg family. The centrepiece is the baroque court cellar dating from 1640 with its impressive vaulted ceilings and branching cellar corridors, which provide information about the century-old wine-growing tradition. Due to the perfect "cellar climate", the Hofkeller is used today for the maturation of top wines and houses the in-house sparkling wine production. The pioneering spirit and dedication of Maximilian Hardegg and his team have proven their worth, as the winery with its exclusive product range has been one of the top Austrian businesses and pioneers for years. Soil, vineyard work, and climate are in harmony here. Especially the markedly continental climate with little rainfall, hot days but cool late summer nights which makes it possible to vinify wines with a lot of elegance, finesse, and a fine acid backbone.
