The red wine Admiral, vintage 2018 from the winery Weingut Pöckl has been rated in 2020 by Peter Moser with 97 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc from the region Lake Neusiedl in Austria.
Dark ruby with purple reflections. Already approachable. There's a spicy undertone to the dark berry confit, delicate liquorice, cassis and herbal notes, along with orange zest and a touch of minerality. Complex and persistent, with taut tannins, ripe blackberry fruit, hints of nougat on the finish and good length. Good ageing potential.
