Tasting Notes
A class wine, one of the best '66s. Strong, vital carmine red colour, healthy, brilliant reflections, wonderful ripe plum and cherry fruit on the nose, notes of precious wood and savourinesss, almost oriental savoury nuances, sweet and full-bodied on the palate, perhaps the most hedonistic wine of the vintage, harmonious, with powerful tannins that will carry it for a few more years, mineral finish, still shows good length. Drink / cellar +20.
More about the tastingMerciless, I had been so looking forward to it, but in Dr. Baumann's sample the bottle had a cork. Without D-B, however, any 1966 story would be grossly incomplete, hence a note from the previous year: Strong, vital carmine red, healthy brilliant reflections, wonderful ripe plum-cherry fruit on the nose, notes of precious wood and spices, almost oriental spice nuances, sweet and full-bodied on the palate, perhaps the most hedonistic wine of the vintage, harmonious, with powerful tannins that will carry it for several years to come. A class wine.
