Tasting Notes
October 1998: Medium ruby garnet with a delicate brick-red background. Fine dark berry aroma, some leather. Very harmonious on the palate, red berries, fine sweetness, well-integrated acidity, vital, still has a lot of potential, soft and silky, great structure.
More about the tastingQuite strong carmine garnet, broad brightening, very multi-layered aromas on the nose, delicately leathery-animalic, but also full of sweet mocha-roasted aromas, delicate dried fruit, ethereal-balsamic under-spice, full-bodied on the palate, shows the mineral, almost iodine-medicinal traces that form the red thread of the terroir, firm tannin structure, enormous length, ending in a fine red berry fruit play. A top bottle is even superior to the Haut-Brion of this vintage.
