Tasting Notes
Romanée-Saint-Vivant, compared to Romanée-Contis, shows as somewhat broader in character, with a little less depth. The wood is more vivid, more prominent, without dominating. The nose shows the warmer year with aromas of juicy cherry and dark berries, fine nougat, dark chocolate and a mocha-like concentration. The aromatics are rich and clearly contoured, characterised by polished, velvety tannins and a velvety texture. Without a doubt, this is a top tier wine, but in comparison it lacks one or two of those iridescent layers that a Romanée Conti achieves. Here, perfect is the enemy of the good.
