The red wine Clos de la Roche Appellation Contrôlée Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, vintage 1971 from the winery Domaine Ponsot has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 98 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the region Cote de Nuits in France.
On the nose cranberry, grape sugar, some pepper and spicy tones, thyme, sage, all fresh and clear, incredibly youthful! On the palate the wine has a ripe, grainy, still taut tannin, with an early finish characterised by complex herbal aromas, which also include slightly "wild" tones, wild berries. Uncomplicated density, supple, juicy and structural motifs are finely-meshed, as if from a single mould. There is even a hint of astringency at the end, with an intense mineral background and excellent length.
