Tasting Notes
Dark ruby garnet with purple reflections and a touch of brightening at the rim. Dark berry fruit on the nose is underlaid with a subtle herbal spice, liquorice and tobacco note. Medium complexity on the palate, with red berry notes the defining feature, alongside well integrated tannins which give good structure. A salty finish. Somewhat lacking in charm, still seems very underdeveloped.
More about the tastingDark, dense ruby garnet. Nose concentrated, dark fruit, beautiful roasted and smoky aromas. On the palate, the wine is surprisingly elegant for a Latour, very straightforward. The fruit is integrated into a taut tannin structure that creates a strong furry coating. The wine therefore has a lot of bite, it is extremely long and deep on the finish. Very mineral, the sweetness is hidden behind it all. Very densely structured, very dense texture - and all that with 12.8 percent alcohol by volume! Just like in the old days.
