The red wine Amarone Classico della Valpolicella, vintage 1988 from the winery Bertani has been rated in 2022 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 96 Falstaff points.
Bright dark garnet red. Opens with notes of leather and tea, some mincemeat, plus soy sauce and blueberries. Shows very good tension, emphasised salty notes, hearty tannin with fine texture, lingers for a long time.
