The red wine Amarone Classico della Valpolicella, vintage 1999 from the winery Bertani has been rated in 2022 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 96 Falstaff points.
Rich ruby red with a slight garnet hue. Initially nutty aromas and rum-steeped cherries, then fresh dark cherries, hints of pepper and cloves. Blossoms nicely on the palate, with dense, well-integrated tannins and juicy fruit on the long finish. Still has a long future ahead of it.
