The red wine Amarone Classico della Valpolicella, vintage 1973 from the winery Bertani has been rated in 2022 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 95 Falstaff points.
Clear, rich garnet red at the core with a pale rim. Opens with an astonishingly fragrant nose of fresh flowers, then some wax, chestnut leaves, lots of dried plum. Compact on the attack and on the palate, builds for a long time, beautifully ripe plum, very clear and straightforward, sweet fruit on the finish, juicy.
