The red wine Amarone Classico della Valpolicella, vintage 1981 from the winery Bertani has been rated in 2022 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 94 Falstaff points.
Dense garnet red with a dark core. Distinct barrel notes of tar and liquorice, also leather, the fruit unfortunately remains in the background. Grippy, fine-meshed tannins at the core, opens up in fine layers, has a firm grip, long finish, salty and dry.
