The red wine Il Blu IGT, vintage 2008 from the winery Brancaia has been rated in 2015 with 91 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon from the region Tuscany in Italy.
A bouquet marking the transition from youth to early development: floral notes, raspberry blossom, a hint of “marsalato,” plenty of juice, firm tannins that are beginning to soften, rather subtle acidity, medium intensity, and length. A wine that shines on the nose, with a palate that is slightly narrower in structure than other vintages. Homogeneous and well-balanced, with peak intensity occurring relatively early in the palate’s progression.

On the nose, it initially reveals slightly earthy notes, hints of dried mushrooms, a touch of tobacco, followed by abundant elderberries. Very full-bodied on the palate, it unfolds with dense tannins enveloped in a sweet, velvety texture; the finish is deep and salty, with a lovely, lingering aftertaste.
More about the tastingBright, rich ruby with violet shimmer. Initially presents itself on the nose with slightly earthy notes of dried mushrooms, some tobacco, then lots of elderberries. Very present on the palate, unfolds with dense tannins, coated in sweet enamel, deep and salty on the finish, lingers beautifully.
