The white wine »Geheimrat J« Rheingau Riesling trocken, vintage 2001 from the winery Weingüter Wegeler – Gutshaus Rheingau has been rated in 2024 by Ulrich Sautter with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Riesling from the region Rheingau in Germany.
Light golden. Subtle wood, grapefruit, yeast, pepper, slate spice, iodine, piquant and still seemingly young. Homogeneous and powerful on the palate, fine acidity, subtle sweetness, multi-layered, mild and round - supple, but also structured. Reminiscent of 1995, but smoother and fuller, perhaps a little "warmer". Nevertheless elegant.
