Tasting Notes
Tar, mint, lifted blueberry and chocolate ganache dance on the nose. The midpalate is seamless, there is an exquisite textural finesse that shines with tar, cocoa, vanilla and blueberry while an edge of minty brightness lends freshness. It is this freshness that characterises the entire wine and lends it timeless poise. Wonderful now but will evolve.
More about the tastingDeep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate brightening on the rim. Fine eucalyptus, mint, nuances of liquorice, black cherries, impressive noble wood note, dark chocolate; a multi-faceted bouquet. Powerful, tightly structured, vivid, demanding tannin, an imperious wine. Notes of black cherry fruit, dark confit, a hint of orange and kumquat, fine dark nougat on the finish, mineral, salty and persistent, still needs time.

More about the tastingMenthol and woodruff, cedar and pencil, elderberry pith, emphatically dark berry. Cooked overtones: raisin. Almost a hint of Marsala. Alcohol-rich and powerful, dry tannins in large quantities, definitely mineral components. Passable juiciness, the alcohol is quite well covered by extract. Good, integrated nerve. Has two sides: an elegant base, but also something saturating and broad. Fiery, slightly heated finish. Hearty. (Panel rating: 96.2)
More about the tastingDeep dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate rim brightening. Intense precious wood notes on the nose, sweet black berry confit, a hint of wild mushrooms, some soy, exotic spices, some licorice, multi-faceted bouquet. Juicy, complex, pleasantly fresh structure, melting tannins, lemony, ripe heart cherries, fine sweetness, still somewhat closed on the finish, at the moment the red berry notes dominate the finish, very good length, patience will be required here. One of the most finesse-rich Granges in a long time, delicate overall impression.
